Method and assumptions

Write the prediction before opening the shutter. Identify the camera, actual hole diameter, film distance, material, batch and exposure index, then preserve the meter reading and the calculation that turns it into an exposure. A later successful print cannot reconstruct those choices reliably.

Separate the optical exposure from the reciprocity correction. Record the method, source and applicable range, or state that the correction is your own measured curve. A bare corrected time hides whether a mistake came from the meter transfer, the hole measurement or the material assumption. Include subject movement and intended visual effect where a long exposure makes them part of the composition.

After exposure, record the actual duration and anything that departed from the plan. The processing record needs enough information to distinguish an exposure fault from a development fault: developer version, dilution, temperature, time and agitation, together with the link to the notebook session. Evaluate shadow separation, highlight printability and any physical defect separately.

The browser log saves locally, supports edits and prints, and exports JSON backups or CSV tables. Import shows a count and requires an explicit add action; duplicate imports remain duplicates. The printable exposure worksheet provides a paper route without JavaScript. Store backups with the negatives or portfolio records so that an image can still be interpreted after the browser profile is gone.

Evidence and record

Read the teaching method and its sources. Keep your inputs, the displayed assumptions and the result together; a result detached from its conditions cannot be checked.
